We made it to San José! Everyone's really excited for this week, especially tonight because we're trying out a gay bar named La Avispa, which means "the wasp." After youtube-ing the bar and googling some tips with Kelsey and Carla, I can imagine that things are going to get interesting.
Saying goodbye to the homestay fam was a mixture of relieving and liberating, although more so in reference to my safety/influence to pierce my eyebrow with a dull needle sterilized with cheap rum and a newly refilled butane ligher, but definitely not sexually. I lay in bed at night, wondering if 'papí
' Ronald is gazing at the moon along with me, and if he is thinking about our many wondrous moments of 'lostintranslation', satisfyingly clashed with serendipitous
conocimento.
Disclaimer: that was Kelsey.
The farewells were actually kind of bittersweet. Doña Miriam gave me a beautifully embroidered bookmark (?) and small bag, which was very sweet. I promised Marcelo that if didn't get assigned to be with them for our next homestay, I'd come back and visit.

I woke up and these guys were chillin in the backyard. |
So we finally had a successful night out last night! Everyone maintained composure, everyone kept their dinner in their stomach, although not everyone kept their tongue in their mouth. But hey, we can't all be angels right? 0:-)

"Machas".. we're well lyked here |
Our hotel in San Jose is a big step up from the roughin' we been doin'. We have hot water, wifi, and can flush our toilet! I'm not quite sure what to think about the peeps here, as they're apparently very different from the very chill ticos in San Luis. And Franco and Luke Skywalkingstick did anything but settle my worries, saying that they're a bit worried for our group based on how liberally we conduct ourselves in public.
